Description: Living Roofs, Inc. installed an extensive green roof on Kerr Scott Hall as part of a University wide desire to reduce energy costs and demonstrate the benefits of green roofs to the campus community. A lightweight – 18 lbs/sqft – pre-vegetated system was selected due to the load constraints of the existing structure. This is the first green roof on Appalachian State Campus and was completed in September 2010. Click to see an article in the Mountain Times with more information about this roof. Living Roofs, Inc. installed a second green roof on the College of Education at the University in May of 2011.
