New York City Passes Bill Requiring Green Roofs on New Buildings

In April, the New York City Council approved the Climate Mobilization Act. The Act is a series of bills and resolutions aimed to improve energy efficiency, cool the city, improve air quality, as well as reduce stormwater runoff and promote biodiversity.

Legislation introduced to expand green roofs in New York City

In an effort to reduce energy output, a bill was introduced by three City Council Members that aims to mandate green roofs, solar power or wind turbines to be installed on new skyscrapers going up around New York City.
